The Art of Wrestling – With Colt Cabana
This Saturday night, ECCW returns to New Westminster for the first time since an amazing night at Halloween Hell. On December 15th, Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling presents The Art of Wrestling. 2012 has been a great year for ECCW, and that momentum looks to continue as we close off the year in a big way.
One of the independent wrestling scene’s most recognized and well travelled stars is finally stepping into an ECCW ring. Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana is coming to New Westminster to join Artemis Spencer and Tony Baroni, the Stallions, in a six-man tag team match against Bishop and The Administration’s Jamie Diaz and Scotty Mac. Bishop will be a week removed from losing his NWA Canadian Heavyweight title. Will that loss so fresh in his mind hinder his team’s efforts? Or will it motivate him to take out the Stallions and put himself back in the title hunt at the expense of independent wrestling’s biggest star?
Having a championship puts you right at the top, but it also puts a target on your back. The RIOT barely had time to blink after winning the ECCW tag team titles before all challengers came knocking at their door. The Bollywood Boyz have been champions before, and they want to be champions again. Gurv and Harv Sihra left Vancouver last week without the belts, but they weren’t pinned in the match either. They were also victorious over The RIOT in six-man tag action in Port Coquitlam. Both teams have momentum in their own rights, but only one team will emerge victorious.
The King of the Yukon has charged headlong into ECCW like a herd of Rocky Mountain Buffalo, winning the inaugural Shooting Star 6 tournament before pinning Bishop to become the new NWA Canadian Heavyweight champion last week in Vancouver. Now he takes the fight to New Westminster, as he defends his newly won championship in a Four-Way Frenzy against a variety of ECCW’s finest. “The Greedfather” Jordie Taylor, Andy the Dreadful Bird, and the Oregon Onslaught himself, J_Sin Sullivan, will all be hungry to claim the King’s throne.
At 2011’s Halloween Hell, KC Spinelli grew at last into a champion when she defeated Nicole Matthews for the ECCW Women’s championship. Since that time, Spinelli has taken her talents to such destinations as Montreal and Chicago in her quest to become the best wrestler that she can be. Now, over a year since the title changed hands, two of the best wrestlers the ECCW Women’s division has ever seen will once again lock horns with the championship up for grabs.
Though he fell just short of winning the inaugural Shooting Star 6, El Phantasmo impressed the ECCW brass in such a way that he was offered a match against the new ECCW champion Sid Sylum. Sylum successfully regained his title in a war with his hated rival J_Sin Sullivan at Halloween Hell, and is eager to defend the title in a match with a wrestler the calibre of El Phantasmo. Has Sylum recovered enough from his own personal war, or will ELP finally rise to the occasion when championship gold is on the line?
Whether he has been loved or hated, The Cremator has long served as the monster of ECCW for many years. Many challengers have come and gone, but has the masked madman finally met his match in Lak Saddartha? For the last two events in New Westminster, Lak has beaten and laid out the Cremator like no one has ever done before, as Rigor Von Slasher may have finally found the final piece to his symphony of destruction. The Cremator has promised to bury Lak Saddartha in New Westminster, but has he already dug his own grave?
