New Owners for ECCW

At last night’s VINDICATION show in Vancouver, ECCW owner Dave (Teixeira) Republic announced that after 14 years at the helm of Canada’s longest running pro-wrestling company he was leaving effective immediately.

Republic sold the company to a new ownership group led by ECCW wrestler and former ECCW & NWA Canadian Heavyweight Champion Scotty Mac. He said that in order to better focus on his outside the ring career and to better serve the pro-wrestling and mixed martial arts (MMA) communities from behind the scenes this move was necessary.

Republic has been active over the years with his consulting company, Dave.ca Communications Inc. where in 2009 he earned the Small Business of the Year Award from the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce. As well, he has been advocating for MMA in British Columbia; working with the City of Vancouver as the Chair of the WrestleMania Bid Committee; campaigning for numerous politicians and causes; and has formed various non-profit organizations.

From the ring at at the of the announcement as the standing crowd chanted “Thank-you Dave!”, Republic Tweeted the following: “After almost 14 years, I have sold my wrestling company @ECCW. Thank you to all the wrestlers, fans and staff for a wild and wacky ride.”
