RESULTS: Pop Culture Retains, Cremator New Island Champ!
Whenever Pop Culture enters a building for an ECCW live event, the reaction they receive is without a doubt negative. Ice and Bishop have cultivated this response with their obnoxious attitude and rulebreaking ways on route to the NWA/ECCW tag team championship (not to mention their "other championships"). But the story was different in Nanaimo on Saturday night, especially after Memphis and MR2 berated the crowd and the city of Nanaimo early in the night! The hometowner Ice was cheered loudly as Pop Culture battled the temporarily reunited Models Inc. in a no disqualification match for the NWA/ECCW tag team championship! Ice has had great success against Memphis and MR2 in the past in Nanaimo, even defeating both in a three-way ladder match in 2006 for the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight title.. and things were no different on this night, as to the delight of the Nanaimo crowd, Ice and Bishop defeated Memphis and MR2 to retain the championship!
We ended up with more championship contests than expected in Nanaimo! As Cremator faced Azeem The Dream one on one, Sid Sylum made his presence felt, smashing Cremator in the face with his Vancouver Island championship belt to draw the disqualification. A furious Cremator challenged Sylum to an impromptu match for the Vancouver Island championship, a challenge Sylum quickly nixed.. until NWA associate representative Mike Democrat overruled him and made the match! Cremator quickly seized the opportunity, chokeslamming Sylum and pinning him to become the new Vancouver Island champion!
It was a bad night all around for Sid Sylum, as after the events of Surrey, Veronika Vice was not in the mood to team with him against her arch-rival Nicole Matthews and Kyle O'Reilly. Still smarting from the dual punts to the groin received from Veronika and Nicole in Surrey, Sylum reluctantly teamed with Veronika, and the friction between them showed. At the end, it was Sylum being driven to the mat by O'Reilly's vicious brainbuster.. and for the second straight night, Sylum suffered the embarrassment of being pinned by Nicole Matthews!
