RESULTS: Kyle O'Reilly Wins TLC3!

The dust has settled from a hellacious TLC3 - and Kyle O'Reilly still stands tall! The odds were against O'Reilly retaining the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight championship in a five-way Tables, Ladders and Chairs match against Ice, El Phantasmo, Halo and "Brilliant" Billy Suede, all of who could have walked out as champion on May 3rd in Vancouver. But in front of a standing room only crowd in the sold-out Russian Community Centre, with chairs blasted, tables broken and ladders scaled, O'Reilly climbed the ladder, unlocked the steel chain holding his prize and was able to hold his NWA Canadian junior heavyweight title up high!

It wasn't without a fight. An additional element was added to the bout when the belt was secured from the balcony of the Russian Community Centre with a steel chain and lock, requiring that a key be retrieved from above the ring before retrieving the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight title belt. All five men battered each other to the point of exhaustion to retrieve the key to victory, with not only Ice, but his manager Brian Sommers being focused on by the other four due to his unprovoked attacks over the past few weeks, as Suede, Halo, Phantasmo and O'Reilly all quadruple-teamed Sommers in the corner to take him out of the match, and all four blasted Ice with sickening chairshots, payback for Ice's attacks on all four the last time in Vancouver!

The ladders and chairs were involved, as O'Reilly belly to back suplexed Suede onto the ladder, and spiked Phantasmo through a chair with a brainbuster. Suede's Sliced Bread #2 became his most effective weapon, not only taking down his occasional partner Halo with the move, but running up a ladder and executing it on both O'Reilly and Phantasmo simultaneously! Ice was decidedly more direct with his attacks, simply striking the others in the face with the chair! Phantasmo set Suede on a table in the ring, but O'Reilly sniped his kill, driving Suede through with a diving elbowdrop off the top! Phantasmo wouldn't be outdone.. as in what would probably be their last tag team maneuver together, Halo held a chair in front of Ice's face so that Phantasmo could sail from one corner to the other with a dropkick to the chair and Ice's face!

Halo actually attempted to retrieve the belt but Phantasmo not only pointed out that the key was still above the ring, but removed the ladder from under Halo, literally leaving his former partner hanging from the balcony! The other four battled into the crowd of ECCW fans, throwing each other into the walls of the Russian Community Centre and into the rows of ringside chairs.... right as Halo came down from the balcony the fastest way - diving from the balcony and crashing into the other four men below! Phantasmo crawled to the back in pain as Ice came back into the fray with a stunning superkick to his arch-rival O'Reilly, as he and Suede combined to drive a ladder into the face of O'Reilly, busting him open to join the blood from Phantasmo and Ice! O'Reilly stopped Ice from retrieving the key, driving him through a table with a tornado DDT! Suede, however, was unable to do the same with Halo, as Halo countered Sliced Bread #2 by launching Suede over the top rope and through a table at ringside!

As Ice climbed to the staging area near the entranceway, Phantasmo re-entered the match with his best friend from the last TLC match - a steel chair wrapped in barbed wire! Ice tried to subdue Phantasmo on the table, but Phantasmo countered with the best weapon available - the barbed wire chair to the skull of Ice, then shoving him off the stage through a table on the floor, taking him out of commission! In all the commotion, Halo was the one to complete the first stage, retrieving the key not only to victory, but to retrieving the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight title!

With the key now available, all five men turned it up a notch, as Halo, Suede and Phantasmo battled under the championship belt, swaying from the balcony of the Russian Community Centre. Halo came ever so close to taking the belt down, going so far as to place the key in the lock, but he was knocked off by O'Reilly, leaving the key dangling from the lock and from the object of all five men's battles! Phantasmo and Suede fought on the ladder, with Suede becoming helplessly caught in the ladder and leaving the door open for Phantasmo to win his first singles championship! However, with the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight championship in his grasp, Phantasmo turned, climbed an even larger ladder to the point that Phantasmo's head touched the ceiling... and leapt off that ladder, twenty feet, straight down through Halo and a table!

With Ice requiring medical attention after the barbed wire chairshot and trip through a table, he could do nothing but watch as Kyle O'Reilly and Billy Suede battled for the richest prize in Canadian junior heavyweight wrestling! Punch after punch, kick after kick, chop after chop, O'Reilly was finally able to knock Suede off the ladder... just long enough to climb the ladder, turn the key and retrieve the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight title to a standing ovation, as the capacity crowd in Vancouver cheered Kyle O'Reilly, still the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight champion after one of the greatest matches in the history of Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling!

The aftermath of the contest will be felt for months to come. Billy Suede and Halo have redeclared their intentions to continue to pursue the championship after licking their wounds from TLC3. El Phantasmo refused comment to ECCW.com about why he chose to take out Halo rather than win the championship, and further attempts to contact him were unsuccessful. And like the others in the contest, O'Reilly was battered and beaten, but he was able to still call himself Canadian junior heavyweight champion - but he will have no time to celebrate his victory. As Ice was being stitched up backstage, Brian Sommers immediately proclaimed that when it's one on one between Ice and Kyle O'Reilly this Saturday night in Abbotsford, things will be quite different. Sommers was irate after the match as he spoke to ECCW.com: "It's very clear how afraid the other four participants were of Ice. You see, being the true champion that he is, he took whatever the others had to dish out and just kept getting back up. You wanna know why Ice isn't the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight champion and lounging in a hot tub with a smile on his face right now? You want to know why he spent hours receiving medical attention instead? Because El Phantasmo got frustrated, snuck off to the back and hid for a while, until he finally decided to come back with a chair wrapped in barbed wire! He went after Ice maliciously and with the intention of ending Ice's chances in the match, and as far as I'm concerned, his career! I was forced to pull Ice from the match for the sake of his own health and safety. He didn't receive his fair chance in that match. So Kyle can celebrate for now - enjoy it. But Ice's priorities haven't changed one bit and he will keep coming for that belt. That's what champions do."

The junior heavyweight title wasn't the only Canadian gold on the line, as Scotty Mac found who the challenger for his NWA Canadian heavyweight title would be - the muscular destruction machine Synn! Scotty was in deep trouble, as earlier in the night, ECCW owner Dave Republic outright banned all Chill Town members from ringside for the title defense. However, Scotty's quickness and wiles were the difference maker, as he pulled the referee into the way of a clothesline to incapacitate him. Things turned from bad to worse for Scotty Mac, as Cremator came to ringside looking for revenge after Scotty had busted him wide open earlier in the night with three shots to the skull with the championship gold.. but Cremator was crossed up with Synn, and Scotty was able to roll Synn up for the three-count to retain the gold! Scotty may need to count his blessings, as Cremator is still after him after the disqualification loss last week in Surrey.. and the ECCW Hardcore champion has vowed that Scotty will have no championships whatsoever in the VERY near future!

ECCW's next return to the Russian Community Centre will be the 2008 Pacific Cup tournament on Saturday night, June 7th, and we are now up to eight qualifiers for the tournament! In two separate qualifying matches, SLAM Academy graduate "Untouchable" Jamie Diaz scored the win over "Southern Comfort" Ray Brooks, and Storm Wrestling Academy grad CJ Strongheart used his devastating double knee attack to take down ECCW Extreme Jobber champion "Dastardly" Danni Deeds! Strongheart and Diaz join Kyle O'Reilly, Ice, Halo, Billy Suede, WASP and Azeem The Dream in the annual showcase of the best junior heavyweights around! Who else will qualify on the road to the Pacific Cup on June 7th?

NEWS: May 3rd Event Update

Due to circumstances beyond our control, "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson will not be able to appear at this Saturday's ECCW event in Vancouver.

However, newly appointed ECCW Commissioner "Gorgeous" Michelle Starr has informed ECCW.com that Scotty Mac will not be getting off that easily - he will still be defending the NWA Canadian heavyweight championship at TLC3 this Saturday, but now, it will be against an opponent of Starr's choosing! The champion and the rest of his Chill Town cohorts wasted no time in filing official complaints against this action - complaints which Starr promptly threw in the garbage can.

Who will Starr choose to have the opportunity to become the new NWA Canadian heavyweight champion? What will Scotty Mac's gameplan be now that he has to not only prepare for a totally different opponent, but an opponent he doesn't even know the identity of? We will all find out this Saturday night, May 3rd, at the Russian Community Centre in Vancouver! Tickets are on sale now here on ECCW.com!

Who Will Win TLC3?

We are less than a week from TLC3 on Saturday night, May 3rd at the Russian Community Centre in Vancouver, where five of the top junior heavyweights in Canada - Kyle O'Reilly, Ice, "Brilliant" Billy Suede, Halo & El Phantasmo - will battle it out using tables, ladders, chairs, and their own bodies, all for the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight championship! The debate is raging among the fans - who will win? Who has the advantage in this brutal matchup where anything and everything can happen? ECCW.com has paired up with regional oddsmakers and asked them who they believed had the edge.

Halo - 3 to 1
Not only does Halo have experience in TLC matches, he has experience in winning championships - just over one year ago at TLC2, Halo and his then-partner El Phantasmo became the NWA/ECCW tag team champions by defeating Chill Town and Memphis & "Tornado" Tony Kozina - and before that, they were victorious in a number one contenders match to earn that shot! Not only that, but Halo was the man to grab the win in both matches, showing his focus toward victory - a focus which has only intensified since his split from Phantasmo, his alliance with Billy Suede, and his desire to win his first NWA singles championship. All of this makes Halo the odds-on favorite to win TLC3 and become the new NWA Canadian junior heavyweight champion.

Ice - 5 to 1
Ascending a ladder and grabbing the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight championship with others nipping at his heels is not a new concept for Ice - on November 25th, 2006 in his hometown of Nanaimo, Ice defeated both Memphis and MR2 to win his first Canadian junior heavyweight title, a belt he's traded twice with his arch-nemesis Kyle O'Reilly. Ever since Ice's contendership suspension ended - and even before - Ice has proclaimed to everybody within earshot that he is the rightful champion, and that he will take the title back by any means necessary! Ice's prowess with chairs is well known to the other four men, who were all knocked out with chairshots by the "Larger Than Life Superstar" on ECCW's most recent trip to Vancouver. However, Ice's actions may make him a major target - it wouldn't surprise anyone if the other four wrestlers put their differences aside to make sure Ice has no chance of winning TLC.. or even walking out under his own power!

Kyle O'Reilly - 7 to 1
The reigning three-time NWA Canadian junior heavyweight champion and 2007 Pacific Cup winner, O'Reilly will not have a championship advantage to rely on in this contest - he will have to ascend the ladder and reclaim his own championship to escape Vancouver with the gold! It's been made very clear with his wars with Ice - O'Reilly can not only wrestle, he can fight and brawl with the best of them, having regained the Canadian junior heavyweight title in a brutal Last Man Standing match last December. The question is if O'Reilly is at 100%, after taking not only bloody beatings from Ice over the past few weeks, but being constantly worn down by Halo and Billy Suede's pursuit of his championship. If O'Reilly has anything left at this point, he had better bring it to Vancouver, because he's going to need it to retain his most prized possession!

El Phantasmo - 10 to 1
Two men in the match have been in TLC matches - Halo, and El Phantasmo. Phantasmo's athleticism and risktaking nature have been well documented, and he also has championship experience in TLC matches with the NWA/ECCW tag team championship win with Halo, as well as being willing to take whatever risk necessary to win! Phantasmo's focus, however, is in question - when he and Halo won the previous TLC, it was Halo that grabbed the championship, while Phantasmo was physically beaten. In addition, Phantasmo's friendship with Kyle O'Reilly may play a factor in the match, as he may have to make the choice of what is more important - his friendship with O'Reilly, or the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight championship? The flipside is that Phantasmo may feel he has a lot to prove - he has never held a singles championship in his career, and out of the five men in TLC3, he is the only one to have not yet qualified for the 2008 Pacific Cup. Will this be what spurs Phantasmo on to claim the gold in Vancouver?

"Brilliant" Billy Suede - 11 to 1
Suede is the absolute wildcard in the match - the SLAM Academy and Storm Wrestling Academy graduate's skill and desire are unquestioned, but his experience in these type of matches is. Suede's usual motif has been to outwrestle his opponent, but that won't be a factor in this match, as beating your opponent down with chairs, putting them through tables and climbing the ladder to win is the only goal! Suede has reportedly been in heavy training as well as scouting all four opponents and past ladder matches to prepare himself.. it will remain to be seen how much of that training he can put to practical use.

The predicted odds may be in Halo's favor, but all five men will have the same chance to become the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight champion this Saturday night in Vancouver, as ECCW presents TLC3! Tickets are on sale now and at all ECCW ticket outlets in Vancouver! And while you're waiting for TLC3, visit the ECCW.com message boards and vote for who YOU think will win TLC3!
