PREVIEW: ECCW in Vancouver This Saturday!

UPDATE: Due to the facial burns suffered by Cremator at the hands of Ice this past Friday night in Surrey, the announced matchup between the two has been postponed, as Cremator is not medically cleared to compete.

Several scores will be settled this Saturday night in Vancouver, as Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling makes its return to the Russian Community Centre!

Ever since Kyle O'Reilly regained the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight championship last December, "Brilliant" Billy Suede has been hot on his heels, wanting only one thing - a chance to become the top junior heavyweight in the country. Suede's new focus and his new attitude has won him match after match over the past six months as he's fought and clawed for that title opportunity. By winning the 2008 Pacific Cup tournament over O'Reilly and El Phantasmo, and after going to a no contest last Friday in Surrey, Suede has definitely earned his chance at the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight title this Saturday night! This past Friday in Surrey, Suede had his first chance at O'Reilly's gold in a three-way along with El Phantasmo, and came very close to the gold, forcing Phantasmo to tap out... right as O'Reilly did as well, leaving the result in doubt. However, when given the chance for five minutes alone against O'Reilly for the title, Suede surprisingly opted out!

This Saturday, however, there will be no running and no opting out of anything, as it will be, for the first time, Kyle O'Reilly vs. Billy Suede, one on one for the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight championship! One of these men will walk out of Vancouver as the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight champion!

Drew Savage of 95 Crave has had a bone to pick with Chill Town's Azeem The Dream for months now, and the battle has intensified since Azeem's cheapshots at the Pacific Cup.. and since Savage retaliated by costing Azeem his second-round match and a chance to win the tournament! It will all come to a head this Saturday, as Azeem The Dream and his mentor, NWA/ECCW and NWA Canadian heavyweight champion Scotty Mac will be taking on a mystery tag team of Savage's choosing, with the stipulation that if Chill Town is victorious, they will receive five minutes alone in the ring with Savage! Savage had better hope he has two ringers to face Scotty and Azeem, because if not, it will assuredly be the longest five minutes of his life!

El Phantasmo and Halo were best friends. Brothers in masks. NWA/ECCW tag team champions. Now, they are the worst of enemies, bitter enemies to the bitter end. Their tag team battles together have been etched into ECCW history.. as have their battles *against* each other while teaming with other partners. This Saturday night in Vancouver, El Phantasmo and Halo will finally meet one on one.. and both have promised a night to remember, for not only the fans, but for each other as well! Will it be a high-flying spectacle as we have come to expect from the masked marauders.. or will it be a knock-down, drag-out, mask-tearing, blood-spewing fight to the finish?

Ever since joining forces, SuperFunk has had a tenuous hold on the NWA/ECCW tag team championship. Led by their manager "Vicious" Verne Siebert, the team of Fast Freddy Funk and VK have done their best to keep the gold away from any tag team in and out of ECCW.. but one team has been a thorn in their side - the masked duo of Los Bon Jovis. No matter what SuperFunk has done, Los Bon Jovis will not go away, going as far as to win non-title contests against them in the past! This Saturday, the masked rockers get a chance at the gold, and with SuperFunk being spread thin by challenges from the returning Bollywood Lions and ECCW Commissioner "Gorgeous" Michelle Starr's team of "Bomber" Nelson Creed & Kenny Lush, this may be Los Bon Jovis' time to become the new NWA/ECCW tag team champions! SuperFunk has declared, however, that this will be Los Bon Jovis' last chance to win the gold, so if Los Bon Jovis want the belts, now is the time!

All this and more will be coming at you this Saturday night from the Russian Community Centre in Vancouver! Tickets are on sale now here at ECCW.com and at all Vancouver outlets! Don't you dare miss it!

RESULTS: Chaos in Surrey!

Scotty Mac was able to retain the NWA/ECCW Championship over the monster Cremator in Surrey, but now without a fight! The Extreme Lumberjack match degenerated into chaos as the lumberjacks involved brawled on the floor with each other. Cremator was able to execute the Incinerator on Scotty for what looked like a championship victory... only to have fire thrown into his face by Ice! Scotty scored the win to retain the championship, as Ice proclaimed he is the most extreme man in ECCW, and has taken down Cremator to prove it!

Chill Town had a very good night, as Sid Sylum, Dropkick Murphy and SuperGirls champion Nicole Matthews scored a victory over Cole Bishop, Disco Fury & Veronika Vice. The team of Disco and Bishop just could not get along, and as Bishop had the pin on Sylum after a Bishop Bomb, the referee was distracted by Disco Fury, allowing Dropkick to come off the top rope with a devastating legdrop on Bishop, giving Sylum the pinfall victory. After the match, Bishop attacked Disco, blaming him for the loss... and when Veronika tried to get him to stop, Bishop gave her a big boot to the face! This situation will come to a head next month in Surrey, as it will be Cole Bishop taking on Disco Fury in a Surrey Streetfight!

The battles between NWA Canadian junior heavyweight champion Kyle O'Reilly, 2008 Pacific Cup winner "Brilliant" Billy Suede and El Phantasmo are still not settled, as the Pacific Cup rematch ended in a no contest, as both O'Reilly and Suede forced Phantasmo to submit simultaneously! With the match being decided as a one-fall contest and not elimination like the Pacific Cup final was, five more minutes were granted to attempt to decide a winner.. but Suede denied the extension and walked off, leaving it a no contest. The aftermath of this contest has ECCW officials scrambling for a decision that will be under review and rendered in the near future.

SuperFunk thought that they had a clear victory over the returning Bollywood Lions after Gurv and Harv Sihra were distracted by Sid Sylum and Dropkick Murphy... but ECCW Commissioner "Gorgeous" Michelle Starr was having none of that, reversing the decision on the spot and awarding a disqualification win to the Lions! Even more, Starr announced that he had signed a new tag team to ECCW.. "Bomber" Nelson Creed and Kenny Lush, who made it very clear that they want SuperFunk's gold, and they want it now!

Azeem The Dream's feud with radio star Drew Savage has continued past the Pacific Cup, as after Azeem's victory over "Untouchable" Jamie Diaz, a match was announced for this Saturday in Vancouver! It will be Scotty Mac and Azeem against Drew Savage's mystery team.. and if Scotty and Azeem win, they will get five minutes alone with Drew Savage, and they have vowed that Savage will not walk out of Vancouver!

In other action, ECCW Hardcore champion Moondog Manson defeated Pink Panther, and "Dastardly" Danni Deeds continued his ECCW Extreme Jobber championship run with a loss to Los Bon Jovi #2.

ECCW returns to the Russian Community Centre in Vancouver this Saturday night! Tickets are on sale now!

RESULTS: Suede Wins Pacific Cup!

The 2008 Pacific Cup tournament is in the record books, and the man standing... "Brilliant" Billy Suede! Suede emerged victorious in front of a packed house in Vancouver by defeating both El Phantasmo and defending Pacific Cup champion Kyle O'Reilly in the finals! O'Reilly's attempt to repeat as Pacific Cup champion was cut short, as the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight champion was pinned by the combined efforts of Suede and Phantasmo, leaving the two men to battle it out, and in the end, it was Suede that came out on top, topping off a fantastic night of wrestling. After the match, Suede told the fans *exactly* what he thought of them, and made it clear to O'Reilly that his NWA Canadian junior heavyweight championship was coming home to him!

The three finalists did not have an easy trip to the finals. O'Reilly had a long, drawn-out battle with the man he beat in last year's first round, top junior heavyweight contender Halo, then had to get past Chill Town's shenanigans to defeat Azeem The Dream, who scored a minor upset over WASP in round one. Phantasmo was able to put Ravenous Randy in dreamland in round one, and used his new anklelock grapevine to defeat ECCW legend and 2002 Pacific Cup champion Black Dragon in the semifinals. Suede defeated fellow Storm Wrestling Academy graduate CJ Strongheart in what many considered the best match of the first round... but his second round opponent ended up being "Dastardly" Danni Deeds, the alternate replacement for Ice, who suffered a concussion in his first round victory over Jamie Diaz and was ruled unable to continue by ECCW officials. Suede made short work of Deeds and made a statement - he was not being stopped in the Pacific Cup!

Suede's Pacific Cup victory has placed an exclamation point on a rollercoaster six months for the junior heavyweights in ECCW. Suede made it quite clear after O'Reilly regained the NWA Canadian junior heavyweight title from Ice last December that he wanted a shot at it, to the exclusion of whatever the fans thought about it. O'Reilly's battles with Suede brought in the broken up masked team of Phantasmo and Halo, whose tag team battles wowed the fans while settling nothing at this point. Add in Ice, who has several complaints regarding his treatment over the past year, as well as incoming talent, and the junior heavyweight scene in ECCW is hotter than ever! O'Reilly may have thought the worst was over when he defeated Suede, Phantasmo, Halo and Ice in TLC3... but that may have just been the calm before the storm!

Somebody decidedly not calm is Scotty Mac, who emerged from a bloody falls count anywhere match in Vancouver against Cremator and Synn with a very tenuous grasp on the NWA Canadian heavyweight champion! Scotty was battered from pillar to post to wall to floor by the monstrous Synn and Cremator, but the timely interference of his Chill Town cohorts Sid Sylum, Azeem The Dream and The Natural may have saved the day. A fantastic balcony dive by Scotty onto Chill Town and Synn was what it finally took for Scotty Mac to score the win and retain his championship... but Cremator looked down on Scotty from the balcony of the Russian Community Centre and vowed that this wasn't over!

ECCW returns to the Bridgeview Hall in Surrey on Friday night, June 27th, with a big six-person intergender tag team match already signed, as the Chill Town trio of Sid Sylum, Dropkick Murphy and SuperGirls champion Nicole Matthews will take on Disco Fury, Cole Bishop & Veronika Vice! Tickets are on sale now on ECCW.com and at all Surrey ticket outlets! Don't miss it!
